Actor. model. creative.
ABOUT ME
Hi y’all! I’m Mary Taylor. I’m an actor, model, and overall creative, and when I was 18 years old I made the biggest decision of my life—I moved to NYC from Dallas, TX completely alone. Not knowing that the next six years of my life would lead me to graduate college with honors, find the love of my life, pursue the life of my dreams, and continue to fall in love with my craft every day while navigating the loss of my dad and persevering through a worldwide pandemic. This crazy, f-d up, beautiful journey of life has led me to develop strength and resilience while holding on to my sensitive, artful eye, which I have always gotten from my dad.
I am so grateful to him for finding Pace University for me. It was truly the greatest gift he could have given me, as I went to college just three months after he passed. Through the challenges that Pace presented, the training and guidance opened a world of opportunity for me. During my time at Pace I starred in shows like “The Wolves” as #7, “The Chechens” as Dagmara, “The Tempest” as Prospero, and “Spring Awakening” as Mrs. Bergmann. Not only did I get the opportunity to be in so many wonderfully life-changing shows, I also got to train with some incredibly talented artists—some of which include Kathleen Turner (film acting), Wendy Kurtzman (LA Intensive/Business of Acting), Stacy Tea (voiceovers), Morgan Jonassen (theater history), Shan Sharma (acting for film)—and so many other amazingly talented teachers.
Outside of my art, I am a huge foodie with a passion for fashion and fitness—although my wallet may not align with my passions at the moment. I tend to fill most of my time playing video games at home with my cat, bunny, and boyfriend, or walking around exploring all of the free and affordable activities NYC has to offer. My favorite way to spend my time lately—which I NEVER thought I would say—is reading my book for book club with the girlies! I’m horribly dyslexic, and it was my idea to start. Luckily, as a voiceover actor, audiobooks have been a lifesaver. And my friends have also been lifesavers. It’s such a beautiful thing to feel like you have a strong support network, and that’s something I never got to experience until now.
On top of my free-time activities, loving friends, and acting/modeling passions, I have been working as a server since I was 14 years old. Due to my dad’s very long battle with cancer, I always wanted to work to be as light of a weight on my parents as possible. This started with me hosting at 14 and waiting tables at 15 at the local hibachi restaurant in the town I grew up in. Through many different jobs—such as being the manager of an air-conditioning company for a week to clowning for many years—I have finally found myself taking advantage of the NYC nightlife scene. I’ve been bottle-girling at a nightclub in Soho, and it has really fulfilled some of my need to perform and my need for financial stability. Now instead of being a clown for kids, I’m a clown for adults. Funny how life works that way.
I’m feeling eternally grateful to the people, places, and things that have gotten me to this point in my life. I cannot wait to see where the journey takes me and all of the amazing people I have yet to meet along the way.
